In this baseball game, players encounter a simulation of a baseball stadium that is populated by cartoon players based on Japanese anime designs. Three announcers appear in the game: an umpire who calls the pitches, a male commentator who provides a running commentary, and a female stadium announcer who introduces each batter and comments on their batting statistics.

Culley, Mulford, and Milbury-Steen (1986) explored use of a French version of the commercial text adventure game Mystery House. This game provides access to a theme and text-based world. On entering the game, a player is presented with a textual description of a virtual world. They are then required to take a course of action by typing a sentence. If the action is possible the game world is altered in some way and the player is then provided with the option of undertaking different courses of action.

Ludologists are also interested in exploring the interrelationship between game rules and play. Juul (2005, 5) argues that the major motivation for playing games is to overcome challenges. Juul claims that although game rules take different forms depending on the game, they provide these challenges through two types of game structure.
