He’s always been there for me,” Aaliyah said. “So I just started introducing him to people as my creative consultant. Eventually the title just stuck. ” When she was eight years old Aaliyah began to make a name for herself as a vocalist outside of family get-togethers. She started to perform at school functions and talent shows around the Detroit area. She also began to land singing gigs at weddings.
