To speak only of the richness of the data, however, begs the question of how these stories relate to the larger community of Mexican women in Atlanta, or to that in the sending community.
Occasionally those I interviewed would themselves use the Spanish equivalent, moderno—and I think particularly of a man in Atlanta who told me, “Soy un hombre Introduction 13 moderno” (I am a modern man).
